You Took the Leap…Now What?
First of all..take a deep breath.
If you’ve recently started a business, let me be the first to say I’m proud of you.
You had an idea, a dream, or maybe even just a “what if?” that wouldn’t leave you alone. So you took the leap. You filled out the paperwork, picked the business name, created the social media pages, maybe even designed a logo, and suddenly…
Now what?
If that’s where you are, you’re definitely not alone.
One of the biggest misconceptions about starting a business is that once you launch, customers just magically appear. The truth? Building a business is a journey, and every successful business owner started exactly where you are right now.
Here are five things I would encourage you to do right now.
Get clear on what you do.
It sounds simple, but it is one of the hardest things to do. If someone landed on your facebook page right now, would they know within a few seconds what you do, who you help, or how to contact you?
Clarity builds confidence. The easier you make it for people to understand your business, the more likely they are to become customers.
show up consistently.
You don’t have to post every day or chase every trend or go viral. You just have to keep showing up.
people are more likely to trust a business they see consistently than one that disappears for weeks at a time. Progress beats perfection every single time.
build a brand people remember.
your logo matters. Your colors matter. your website matters. but what people remember the most is how you made them feel. Create a brand that reflects who you are, tells your story, and leaves people feeling confident that they made the right choice by working with you.
don’t try to do everything alone.
this one is so important.
As business owners, we are going to wear a lot of hats. Salesperson, bookkeeper, photographer, social media manager, customer service representative, designer, salesperson. some of those hats fit…some don’t. and that’s okay.
There comes a point where asking for help isn’t an expense…it’s an investment in your business and your peace of mind.
give yourself permission to grow.
You’re not stuck with your first logo forever if you outgrow it. Your website will not stay the same forever. Your pricing is going to change. Your services will evolve. Your confidence will grow. businesses aren’t built overnight. They’re built one decision, one customer, and one faithful step at a time.
a little encouragement before you go…..
if you’re waiting for everything to be perfect before you tell people about your business, you’re going to wait for a very long time. start where you are.
